Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

FreeKiosk is three separate things, and lumping them together would be misleading. This policy covers the first two:

• This website, freekiosk.app. Covered below. It collects nothing.
• The Android application, on its own. Covered below. It sends nothing anywhere.
• FreeKiosk Cloud. Not covered here. It is an optional service you sign up for, and enrolling a device in it makes that device report its status to our servers. It has its own policy, published where you create the account: cloud.freekiosk.app privacy policy.

This website

freekiosk.app is a set of pre-built static pages. There is no account, no form and no database behind it.

• ✓No cookie of any kind, including none that would need a consent banner
• ✓No analytics: no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no pixel, no tag manager
• ✓No advertising and no third-party script beyond the fonts and libraries the pages need to render
• ✓No form: getting in touch means opening your own email client through a mailto link

The site is hosted by OVH in France. Like any web host, OVH records technical logs of requests reaching its servers, under its own terms. We do not read those logs for audience measurement, and we hold no visitor data of our own.

The Android app, on its own

Installed and left alone, the app is a local program. Its settings live on the tablet and nowhere else:

• •The kiosk URL you configure
• •The admin password, stored on the device
• •Display and behaviour preferences
• •An optional remote configuration URL, if you set one

It ships no analytics or crash-reporting SDK: no Firebase, no Crashlytics, no Sentry, nothing equivalent. It makes exactly the network connections you configure, and one more only if you choose to enrol it in FreeKiosk Cloud. The source is public, so this is checkable rather than merely promised.

FreeKiosk Cloud, in one paragraph

So the boundary is clear rather than buried in a link: FreeKiosk Cloud is an optional service. Enrol a device and it reports its status to our servers roughly every 30 seconds, which means hardware and network details, and, if you turn those on, its location and screenshots of its screen. Your account email is stored too. All of it is hosted at OVH in France.

On that fleet data you are the data controller and we act as your processor: you decide to deploy the kiosks and what they report, we hold it for you. Nothing is sold, rented or shared for advertising, and no organisation can see another's devices.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may ask for access to your data, correction of it, erasure, portability, restriction of processing, or object to processing. Since this site and the app hold nothing about you, such a request will normally concern a FreeKiosk Cloud account or an email you sent us.

Write to support@freekiosk.app. We answer within 30 days. If you think we have handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the CNIL, the French supervisory authority, at www.cnil.fr.

Check it yourself

The app is open source, so the claims above about it can be verified rather than taken on trust: read the code on GitHub. For this site, your browser's developer tools will show you an empty cookie jar and no analytics request. The Cloud platform's source is not published, so its policy is a commitment rather than something you can read in the code.
